I got my undergrad degree in Community and Nonprofit Leadership and worked in urban education for 5 years post graduation, at a nonprofit called City Year in Boston. I served for two years as an AmeriCorps volunteer tutoring/mentoring ELA (English Language Arts) at a K-8 school in Roxbury MA, and then led the school based teams I used to serve on for a few more years. I loved the work but sustainability was a concern so I pivoted to software engineering and I'm now an apprentice software engineer in Chicago.
